INFORMATION DAYS ON UEMOA PROJECTS IN NIGER

The Representation Office of the UEMOA Commission in Niamey organized a workshop on June 22-24, 2022 in Dosso (a region bordering Benin) to provide information and raise awareness on the theme of "Free Movement of Persons, Goods and the Right of Establishment."

The opening ceremony was chaired by Albâchir Aboubacar, Governor of the Dosso region, in the presence of the Second Vice-President of the Regional Council, the Prefect, the Mayor of the Urban Commune of Dosso, as well as the Resident Representative of the Commission in Niamey, Issouf Oumar MAIGA.

In his opening speech, the Governor of the region stated that "this workshop provides an opportunity for participants to better understand the UEMOA, its objectives, its functioning, and particularly the texts related to free movement within the community." He also thanked the Union's high authorities for the actions carried out in the region and for their commitment to implementing community projects in Niger.

Previously, Issouf Oumar MAIGA recalled the overall objective of these information days, which is to inform and raise awareness among national actors and stakeholders about community texts relating in particular to the free movement of people, goods and the right of establishment. In addition, he emphasized that "the workshop aims to bring the UEMOA closer to the people, to promote and strengthen the regional integration process."

Representatives from the Dosso Governorate, the university, regional and departmental structures, the municipal council and territorial authorities, liberal professions, economic operators, trade unions, civil society, traditional leadership, as well as representatives from the region's defense and security forces participated in the meeting.
